Auction Action – June 2026

A month on from the Tigers win at Wembley, our attention has turned back to online auctions and digital marketplaces in the search of Hull City paraphernalia! (writes Mike Carter…)

Starting with player shirts… there had been a Martin Samuelsen 2020/21 third shirt by Umbro on Vinted for quite some time. It was initially listed for higher than its final list price of £55, and likely sold for an offer lower than that. A sub-£50 player specification shirt from a league-winning season, not bad, eh?

Available across multiple platforms was this match-worn Billy Sharp 2023/24 primary shirt by Kappa, which we’re told came to the seller from Sheffield United’s kitman. It was listed at £150 on both Vinted and eBay, and sold on the latter on the final day of the month – the now standard eBay fees took the final sale price to £156.70.

Also available from the same seller was this Regan Slater 2021/22 primary shirt by Umbro. It was listed over on Vinted for £165, and from the ** FIXED PRICE NO OFFERS ** message in the description, we can assume that the shirt sold for its list price.

Our final player specification shirt for June’s Auction Action is this 2025/26 primary shirt with poppy applique worn by Darko Gyabi against Portsmouth in a 3-2 win for the Tigers. It was listed at £286.70, including fees, which is close to the original sale value via MWS.com from back in the winter. It was listed with the best offer feature available to potential buyers and appears to have been sold via that method, too.

DIY shirts are becoming increasingly popular now. People are buying old shirts, and levelling them up with appliques to mark significant players and games, and in some cases, both! That is what we believe has happened here. This long-sleeved 2007/08 primary shirt by Umbro has likely been ‘upgraded’ with heat-applied Okocha #44, league competition patches and Championship Play-Off Final game detail. It has likely turned what would be a £30-£40 sale into a sale for £129.99!

Another shirt carrying the name of Jay-Jay Okocha is this 2007/08 change shirt by Umbro. It also has dual Coca-Cola Football League sleeve patches and was sold for £115.09.

No, no, no, no, no! If I didn’t make it clear, this ISN’T a match worn Malcom Ebiowei 2022/23 primary shirt by Umbro – it is a fan’s replica shirt most likely purchased from the club shop. If the biggest clue didn’t give it away – the fact that Ebiowei wasn’t running about in his 12 appearances in an XXL shirt- the lack of a ‘TOGETHER’ patch underneath the competition patch is another giveaway. Still, it enticed two bidders into placing bids, taking it from its £50 start price to £56.12, including fees. The heat-applied elements of the shirts aren’t even in that good of a condition either – you can be somewhat accepting of that if it is match damage, but when it isn’t, nor is it a match shirt, someone has potentially been fooled here.

A 2008/09 change shirt by Umbro, with Marney #22 applied, was sold by Barnardo’s Charity on eBay – mostly gone are the days of a football shirt pick-up in a local store, as most charities are capitalising on the online marketplace now, but this one could still be considered a decent find. The shirt in size 3XL from the Tigers’ debut season in the Premier League sold for just £10.50 – a steal!

Also sold by Barnardo’s was this 2009/10 primary shirt by Umbro with Premier League competition patches and Folan #18 applied. This time it sold for a little bit more, with £36 being the winning bid price.

This next listing is potentially another DIY shirt, as the name and number set look really new for a shirt which is 20 years old. The shirt is a 2005/06 change shirt by Diadora and features Parlour #14 – or the Real Romford Pele, as the former Arsenal man is also known online. Once again, we have a £30-£40 shirt, which has actually sold for £94.29 (if our prediction is correct) – the Classic Football Shirts model is becoming more widespread.

The last listing is all but certainly a DIY shirt – this 2025/26 primary shirt by Kappa, their final offering for Hull City, has been pimped out with a Play-Off competition patch and Championship Play-Off Final match details, heat applied to the chest – and yes, very wonkily indeed! The shirt is size XS, and was one of the only sizes left in Tiger Leisure as the season hit its climax. The seller has gone to the bother of getting it signed by the squad, but it ‘only’ sold for £127.08 – if the game detail wasn’t wonky, we’d imagine it would have sold for a lot more than that.

That’s all for our June edition of Auction Action – we’ll be back in August covering all the digital sales we deem worthy in July!
