Welcome to Auction Action. We’re here to look back on a month’s worth of excellent Tiger offerings from the month of August, and we’re not just talking about the performances against Manchester United and Coventry City! (writes Mike Carter)
Normally for Auction Action, we start in the past, but to mix it up a little we’re going to start in the present, and some items that were listed by Hull City on their auction wing of Tiger Leisure;
It was a dream start to life back in the Premier League for The Tigers after a well-deserved 2-0 win over the 13-time champions, Manchester United. If you wanted a memento to remember the occasion, there were a couple of choices available.
Continuing a trend set throughout the last campaign, City started their new season auctions with a banger – a 2026/27 primary shirt by Oxen that goalscoring debutant, Nobel Mendy wore at the MKM Stadium on 22nd August. Bidding started at £50, but soon soared and finished at £722.
A new trend for City is match-detailed corner flags! Each of the four corner posts will feature unique flags with dye-sublimated match details – how cool! Two of the four used against Manchester United were listed and sold for £186 and £188.
I remember this shirt being listed on eBay some time ago, and when I saw it had sold, I had forgotten it was even available (that’s how long it has been on eBay for). It takes us back to our last season in the Premier League. It is a 2016/17 primary shirt by Umbro, configured for then Scottish International, Robert Snodgrass. Snodgrass left the club in January 2017. The shirt sold for £286.70, so far from a bargain, but it is a nice shirt.
It’s always good when we can use a source other than eBay, and we’ve got another one for you here… Classic Football Shirts (CFS) had a 2025/26 primary shirt by Kappa worn by Cody Drameh in one of the two matches against Leicester City in our promotion season. Listed at £199.99, it did remain available for a few weeks before being sold last month.
Moving into the replica market, and there was a 1982/83 change shirt by Admiral available on eBay. It was listed as a buy it now for £104.70, and sold for the asking price. The shirt is on the small side; the listing says 38-40, so we’re talking youth large or adult small, really. Either way, it is in an acceptable condition for a shirt coming up to 45 years old.
City teaming up with Fourex to reproduce classic shirt designs under licence has been excellent. We’ve seen some classic shirts return with affordable pricing, but for some of us – likely you reading this – originals will always be king. This 1990-92 primary shirt by Matchwinner in size large sold for an offer after being listed at £160. The shirt shows some wear, including cracking to the sponsor and a bit of bobbling.
Lastly, this month we have a ‘pimped up’ brand new with tags 2007/08 goalkeeper shirt by Umbro which has had aftermarket ‘upgrades’. The shirt is size XXL, which is quite fitting since that is the size Boaz Myhill chose to wear. Myhill and #1 have been applied to the back, as well as match details for the 2007/08 Championship Play-Off Final applied under the maker’s mark. The shirt was listed at £199.99, which is absolutely a premium price for it, but it is certainly unique… Until more are potentially made!
