Welcome to Auction Action, the monthly check-up on Hull City garments that have recently gone under virtual hammers. Would April make fools of us all, or shower us with polyester goodness? Let’s take a look (writes Mike Carter)

We’ll start with the only player issue shirt that we saw for sale, and this is a 2024/25 change shirt by Kappa issued to young ‘un Will Jarvis. The price was £78.69 – which is a decent price for any shirt readied for player use.

This 1999/00 primary shirt by Avec, in size XL was available last month. The auction ended at £56.04 after it received 13 bids from 6 bidders over 7 days. The shirt is in fair condition, but does have signs of wear and the odd mark, which may have placed a glass ceiling on this shirt.

Another shirt showing signs of its age is this 2001/02 change by Patrick, in 2XL. This shirt has some wear to the sponsor, and some marks on the chest, too. Still, someone was willing to take a chance on it, after making an offer that was lower than the £44.99 asking price. 01/02 change shirts are quite rare, so it makes sense that this one would sell quite sharply.

Now, this one could be a player issue, but just due to uncertainty, we’ve placed this 2014/15 third shirt by Umbro, printed with Jelavic and #18, in size medium with the printed replicas. One thing is for sure, if this is a player-worn shirt, then it has been worn again and again after the fact. We still think that for £39.18, it was well worth the risk for someone to find out though. It looks to have pro-sized Premier League competition patches and letter/number set, so it could well be…

The next printed replica is the 2015/16 primary shirt by Umbro printed with Abel.H. and #9 in size large. It was listed as a buy it now for £41.26, which is a good price all round. Hernandez was excellent in 2015/16 scoring 20+ goals as the Tigers secured a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking via the play-offs. The shirt also has two Sky Bet Championship competition patches, too.

There can’t have been too many people getting replica shirts printed with the name of Chris Martin in 2018/19, but that is what someone had done to their primary shirt in 2XL. It was listed for £49.98 and sold midway through the month of April.

Our last printed replica is this 2024/25 primary shirt by Kappa, with Belloumi and #33 applied to the back, in size medium. It sold for £31.90.

Two Tigers Trust warm-up shirts were sold in April, too. These were worn ahead of the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship fixture against Luton Town on Saturday 29th March 2025. The first one which was worn and signed by Finn Burns, sold for £12.15 – which feels like an absolute steal should this be your kind of thing. The second one which was worn and signed by Club Captain, Lewis Coyle, sold for £21 – which when you consider isn’t a huge markup when you consider the standing he has within the club. The Tigers lost the game after an Alfie Jones own goal in the 46th minute.

Lastly, there was a pair of George Long’s goalkeeper gloves available over on MatchWornShirt on their new sprint auction feature. We believe they were originally listed as part of The Asmir Begovic Foundation – AB1GK Mother’s Day auction back in 2021, which likely means that the original buyer didn’t follow through with their purchase. This time around they sold for £107.
That is everything for April – we’ll be back in June, taking a look over all the items which were available in May.
Caveat emptor!
