Auction Action – January 2026

By it’s very nature, the act of reviewing stuff month by month means there’s always a lag, but we’ve finally caught up with the rest of you ensconced in 2026! Is the first month of the year filled with fine memorabilia bounty, or are we all just too skint to be buying stuff for the collections? Let’s look at the January’s Auction Action (writes Mike Carter)

We used to just cover eBay, but the sources of match worn or issued shirts are now legion. For example the shirt collection of former Aston Villa and Middlesbrough defender Ugo Ehiogu (who tragically died of a cardiac arrest at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground in 2017) is being sold by MWS.com on behalf of his family. There have been some unbelievable shirts available during the process, and after a quick search we came across this 2016/17 change shirt by Umbro worn by Jake Livermore, which has been signed by the squad on the front. The winning bid was £133.

We have seen a few Tigers Trust shirts resurface of late, they were issued for the February 2022 home game against Fulham, and here is another one. This 2021/22 primary shirt by Umbro with the one off sponsor applique is still muddy from use by Sean McLouglin. It was initially listed for £130, then relisted at £94.30 and sold at the asking price. Back in 2022, the shirt went for £276 on MWS.com.

A pair of player specification shirts was coupled up for an eBay listing in January, consisting of a 2023/24 home shirt by Kappa issued to Andy Smith and a 2024/25 change shirt by Kappa issued to Will Jarvis. These shirts sold for a combined price of £141.10, but when you take a look at the description it stated “as discussed”, implying the seller and buyer had been in negotiations over a sale. We have seen the Smith shirt before, and it was covered in a past Auction Action.

Another Kappa shirt from the 2024/25 season on sale in January was this third shirt issued to Chris Bedia. It was listed at £104.70, and appears to have been sold via the best offer feature.

Onto desirable replicas and an original 1988/89 primary shirt by Matchwinner was listed at auction in January. It was listed with a high start price of £208.70, and attracted an opening bid shortly after being listed. The shirt, which is size large, didn’t then receive any more bids, meaning the shirt sold for its opening offer at the end of the auction period.

We love a long sleeve effort here at HCK HQ, so this 2007/08 primary shirt by Umbro printed with Okocha #44 that was listed at £125.49 really piqued our interest! It is another shirt that sold using the best offer feature over on eBay.

Lastly in our breakdown of January’s most notable shirt sales is this 2014/15 change shirt by Umbro printed with Premier League competition patches, Diame and #17. It has been listed on eBay for what feels like eternity – but it finally sold in January 2026, priced at £63.30. This is one that COULD potentially be more than a printed replica, but proving it could be tough. The comp patch, number and letter set appear as if they could be pro-sized, but that is tough to tell based just on these images.

That’s your last, we will of course be back in early March to look at the shortest month’s offerings. As ever… Caveat emptor!
