Auction Action – November 2025

November is the month of remembrance, when those who have died in the line of duty for the armed forces are memorialised, and since 2009 City have worn poppy appliques on shirts used close to Remembrance Day, with thiose shirts later auctioned to raise funds for the Royal British Legion. This year the Tigers wore be-poppied shirts for the visit of Portsmouth on Saturday, 8th November (writes Mike Carter @HKRS_Mike)

Shirts went up for auction via matchwornshirt.com as the referee blew the whistle for kick off.

The auctions ran for 20 days, and bids rolled in, with some players’ shirts selling for top money. The biggest of those was the £745 paid for Charlie Hughes’ number 4 shirt. The next nearest was Joe Gelhardt, whose shirt sold for £545. The top 5 is rounded out by Kyle Joseph at £436, Regan Slater at £405 and Joel Ndala at £377.

In total, 20 players’ shirts were sold, plus a framed poppy shirt, which sold for £590 and actually outpriced every shirt but Hughes’.

The cheapest shirt available was that issued to Dillon Phillips, his GK shirt sold for £148. The next cheapest was that worn by Akin Famewo for the final moments of the game – his shirt sold for £165.

Tiger Leisure’s Auction page has become somewhat of a hotbed for interesting memorabilia of late and that continued throughout November, too.

A 2022/23 primary shirt match issued to Alfie Jones for the Fourth Round of the FA Cup tie against Fulham was sold via Tiger Leisure. The shirt is prepared with the EFES lower back sponsor and an Emirates FA Cup competition patch, which is quite nice if you like your collection to cover such occasions. The shirt sold for £105 after 7 bidders placed bids to try and secure the shirt.

For the second time in as many months, a match-worn Ryan Giles shirt was listed by Tiger Leisure. The 2024/25 primary shirt sold for £235 which was £80 more than the one sold in October, which then sold for £155.

Another 2025/26 match-worn shirt that was listed is this Semi Ajayi primary shirt, which was worn by the centre half for the 2-1 midweek victory over Leicester on 21st October. The shirt sold for £200, and still has mud stains from the MKM pitch.

Current season Remembrance offerings weren’t the only poppy shirts that were available, this 2018/19 Markus Henriksen home shirt with club certificate of authenticity was available via an eBay listing in Rome, Italy. The seller listed this originally at €239.99, but gradually it was reduced as the month went by. It lowered to €119.99, which is shown as around £105. The seller also had the best offer feature in play so it is very possible that someone picked up a bargain here.

This next shirt is really interesting. It’s a 2019/20 home shirt with all the common player specification features you’d expect, including post-lockdown NHS appliqué, but here is the kicker, Angus MacDonald is spelt incorrectly as McDonald.

We have no record of this ever taking to the field, but that isn’t to say it isn’t genuine, it’s just a strange one. It was listed as a buy it now for £125.50, and appears to have sold via the best offer feature.

The bargain of the month has to be this 2024/25 home shirt that was match prepared for centre back Andy Smith. It was priced at just £26.99 as a buy-it-now. As you can imagine, it wasn’t live for long.

A 1999/00 green goalkeeper shirt in XL sold for £62.04 in November. We’ve seen a few shirts from this era sell of late and they’ve all sold for a similar amount which tells you exactly where the market is right now.

A 2025/26 third shirt, printed with the squad number and name of fans’ favourite Ollie McBurnie sold for the very reasonable price of £29.81. On a side note, have you ever known a clamour around the MKM Stadium for a player’s return like McBurnie against Wrexham? That was unrivalled in the modern era, in my opinion.

And finally, probably the most random item we have to cover this month is this 2024/25 120th Anniversary shirt featuring a legacy number which has been signed by Andy Robertson. Again, this listing came via Tiger Leisure’s Auction platform and sold for £250 – which feels crazy when you consider some of the match-worn items with a lower sale value. Anyway, each to their own and all that.

That’s your lot, we’ll be back soon to look at December’s offerings.
