Auction Action – October 2025

October has been and gone, just like that. A month that ended with Halloween, has spooked us a little bit, as notable memorabilia offerings were quite limited during the tenth month. However, fear not, we’re still here to bring you all the best sales from online auction sites! (writes Mike Carter)

Things seem to be calming down on the Auction section of the Tiger Leisure website. We’ve seen outrageously high prices paid for match-worn shirts and even some signed replicas, but there was a sense of sanity returning when a 2025/26 home shirt worn by by assists-man Ryan Giles during the Tigers’ impressive 3-1 home win over Southampton on Saturday 20th September went for near to the average price for a modern match-worn.

It received bids from six unique bidders, with the winner placing their bid of £155 in the final seconds to secure the shirt.

This next shirt is a 1995-97 away shirt by Super League, listed as a ‘Matchworn Youth Team’ shirt. Seller Ben Pearson says he wore it when he played for Hull City’s U16 team, almost 30 years ago. With no competition sleeve patches or number on the back, there’s very little to distinguish this from a replica shirt. Anyway, a bid of £90 plus fees was enough for this shirt to find its new owner.

Next up, we have a pair of 2017/18 third shirts by Umnro. The first is size small, and looking at the listing images, it does have some wear and tear, including some pulls on the back. A bid of £1.83 was all it took for someone to buy this shirt.

The second 2017/18 third shirt was in a much nicer condition, but this time it was an XL and sold for £24.99. We’ve spoken a lot about this in the past, but the size and condition of a shirt play big parts in shirt valuations.

The next shirt is a 2005/06 long-sleeved home shirt by Diadora printed with the surname and squad number of former player turned boxer Curtis Woodhouse. The shirt is size XL and was listed at £52.67. It appears that the best offer option was exercised here.

We’ve another pair up next, this time two modified 2007/08 home shirts by Umbro, with Play-Off Final game details applied to the upper right chest (as worn), competition sleeve patches and a name and number applied to the back.
These shirts weren’t available to purchase like this directly from Tiger Leisure, meaning there is an element of ‘DIY’ to them. They make a nice keepsake though, so we can understand how someone would find this appealing.

Both shirts have had Windass and squad number 9 applied to the back. The first one, which is size medium, has also been signed by Deano on the front and sold for £201 after 18 bids were placed.

The second 2007/08 Windass play-off final mock-up sold for £84.95; however, this one isn’t signed and was listed as a ‘buy it now’ and not as an auction like the first one.

That’s all for October, but we will be back in December with November’s offerings including 2025/26 poppy shirts – it is already shaping up to be an interesting month!
