June. No Championship football, little happening with transfers, and the wait for a new kit goes on. Surely eBay will fill the void, awash with old shirts to pick up? Nope, not much happening there either, ‘Cozzie Livs’* is biting and people aren’t buying what little essentially non-essential items are available. Bah! Still, Mikey Carter reports on what Tigers apparel did sell in June 2023…
*Cost of living, if you’re a dweeb.
We normally start with match worn or issued shirts, but that well doth run dry! There have been some player shirts available, the remnants of a noted former collector’s stash after the choicest garments have been picked up, but no one seems to be biting.
Onto replicas then… A 2002-04 home shirt with promotion text that celebrated the Tigers’ success in 2002/03 sold for £29.00 after 6 bidders placed 13 bids between them to secure this size large shirt.
Moving into 2004/05 for this next listing. This centenary home shirt by Diadora in size large sold for around £40 after the best offer option was used.
The ‘Cactus Purple’ 2016/17 third shirt by Umbro was only used on a couple of occasions and massively divided opinion, and like other recent third shirts tends to hold its value. The shirt in size medium sold for £39.99, during the month of June.
The ‘Fusion Blue’ 2009/10 away shirt by Umbro is a thing of beauty! This one in size XL and printed with Windass #9 sold for an offer, likely around the £49.99 asking price.
This next one falls firmly into the bargain category. A 2014/15 home shirt by Umbro printed with Elmohamady #27 in size XL sold for just £7.50! What a steal!
This last one is a prime way of ruining a shirt, unless that is you’re a “Dad of 4”. The fact that it sold for around £4.76 tells you everything you need to know. This should be a reportable crime!
Tragically that’s all. Here’s hoping for better things in July.
