You May or May not have been impressed with May’s offerings of Tiger’s polyester, but probably not. A bit like a dead rubber at the end of the football calendar, May’s Auction Action isn’t blessed with tons of quality, but like true professionals, we’ve left the sandals in the suitcase to cover the polyester to successfully go under the virtual hammer (writes Mike Carter, briefly).
We have just the one match-worn shirt to highlight this month. This 2021/22 home shirt, worn by Josh Magennis against Birmingham in November 2021, sold for £87.69 after 6 bidders made 19 bids in pursuit of this shirt.
On to replicas then… This 1988/89 home shirt by Matchwinner in size small fetched a fee in the region of £179.99, after the best offer feature was exercised.
A 1998/99 away shirt by Olympic in size large fetched £131. Shirts from the ‘Great Escape’ season bring back fond memories for supporters (despite the abjectness of the first four months of the campaign), so it wasn’t a shock to see this one sell for a triple digit sum.
The 1999/00 home shirt by Avec is one that we’ve covered a lot on Auction Action since its inception. We’ve seen lots of variation in the price over the years, but this one in size XL sold for £46, a price at the lower end of the scale.
The last shirts we bring to you are a pair of 2000/01 home shirts by Avec. The first is size XL and sold for £46.31.
The second 2000/01 home shirt, this time in size large, sold for an offer, of likely around £58 mark. There wasn’t much between the two prices.
And that, sadly, is all for May ’23, probably the most underwhelming month in recent AA memory from a sales perspective! We will keep our eyes out as we progress through June in the hope of greater successes next month.
