Bo Myhill and Matt Duke, City’s netminders in 2009/10, largely wore Umbro’s deep green ‘keeper kit (which had a dynamic 3D geometric shape pattern that is probably what an LSD induced hallucination after playing Tetris looks like), wearing the two tone grey alternative mostly on City’s travels.
Myhill, a veteran of three Tigers promotion campaigns, wore the grey for what is probably his finest hour (and a half) for City, the 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane when Bo kept us in the game almost single handedly. Sadly, these shorts were not worn in that game, the number above the supplier’s double diamond is positioned differently.
These were worn in the 5-1 defeat at Everton in which the man christened Glyn saved a penalty. Umbro’s shorts were notoriously tight across the waistband and players often wore a bigger size that they’d usually use, Matt Duke wore XL despite hardly having the bulkiest of frames, and Myhill, who liked loose fitting kit anyway, wore XXXL shorts with an XL shirt. These came straight from the club’s kitroom, so have impeccable provenance.
