2007/08 was an extraordinary year for Hull City: a highest ever league finish (3rd in the second tier) that extended the season with Championship play-offs qualification, culminating in a first ever visit to Wembley Stadium and ultimately promotion to the Premier League. Yet the season had a fairly ordinary start, with little indication of the glories to come. Stephen McPhee was still a Tigers player at that point, he made 22 appearances before joining Blackpool in the January transfer window.
This shirt, an amber and black version of the shirt design that Umbro supplied England with was worn by McPhee during that period. During that time he scored three goals, one the League Cup at Crewe, and two in the Championship, the first in the mass brawl game against Charlton and the second versus Cardiff in a 2-2 draw.
