This 2002/03 home shirt was issued to Ritchie Appleby. The former Kidderminster man didn’t play much for City, citing an injury that club doctors doubted existed. The chances of this shirt being matchworn are therefore slim, but the photo below from the Torquay game has the Nationwide League patches in the right places.


Thin polyurethane patches from the 2001/02 season were added to the main amber sleeve panel whereas the thicker and more durable replacement versions released for 2003/04 could be applied over the black yoke stripe without fear of patch tearing.
