Kit notes: Stripes remained in 2005/06, but they were much slimmer vertical bands this time round. The shirt also featured an amber mesh collar with white trim and white mesh panels under the arms for ventilation. White featured on the shorts too, in a thin stripe that broke up a curving amber band on each side of the black shorts. The amber socks were similar to the previous years, only these had a thin black stripe on either side and no monogram within the stripe. White shorts were used with the home kit at Sheffield Wednesday and Luton.
Given the amount of black and white in our home kit, having a black and white away kit seemed an odd choice. The black away shirts had thick white bands under the arms that were broken by a thin amber stripe. Two sets of shorts and socks, one black and one white, were worn interchangeably with the black shirt.
The previous years sky blue and white away kit was used as a 3rd kit, black shorts were worn with the blue shirt at Blackpool in the League Cup. A petrol blue/grey keeper kit was used throughout City’s first Championship campaign.
